Kay Wright began her journey at Purdy in August of 1988. Reflecting on her time there, she doesn’t point to a single standout memory but rather a collection of experiences that have brought her joy and fulfillment. From the excitement of Senior Trips and the camaraderie she shared as a Cheer Coach, to the proud moments watching her cheerleaders perform at halftime in Arrowhead, Kay has been a part of countless treasured memories. She fondly recalls accompanying students to State and National FBLA competitions and cherishes the spark of understanding in a student’s eyes when they finally grasp a difficult concept or achieve a hard-earned goal. What Kay has loved most about being part of the Eagle family is witnessing the pride and joy that come with student success. She has taken great satisfaction in watching students learn, grow, and thrive, all while being surrounded by a team of dedicated educators who shared the same mission. As she looks ahead, Kay knows she will deeply miss being around the students—the daily interactions, the lessons planned and taught, the FBLA activities and competitions, and the simple, meaningful conversations with her fellow teachers. Her classroom and her interactions with Dewey also hold a special place in her heart. However, one thing she certainly won’t miss is the daily drive over the dreaded speed bumps. In reflecting on her impact, Kay hopes she leaves behind a legacy of honesty, integrity, and passion. She aspired to model the value of hard work and the importance of perseverance, showing students and colleagues alike that success often comes through challenges and that mistakes are just stepping stones to growth and improvement. If she could offer advice to her younger self, it would be to better balance work and personal life—an insight gained through years of dedication and experience. As she enters retirement, Kay looks forward to finally tackling those “someday when I have time” tasks. Her plans include working more hours at AH Trucking, tending to her yard (and her friends’ yards), spending quality time with her mom, and perhaps traveling a bit. She’s especially excited about the freedom to shop on quiet weekday mornings and to simply do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. Purdy R-II School District will be closed, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30th due to no power. Please stay safe.

Due to the recent storm causing the school to loose power we have all students in the FEMA. If you are able to pick up your student please come to the school and do so. We are not able to serve lunch and power is anticipated to be out all day. Buses will run routes at Noon.
